About the Book:
Title: ARU SHAH AND THE TREE OF WISHES (Pandava
Quartet #3)
Author: Roshani Chokshi
Pub. Date: April 2, 2020
Publisher: Rick Riordan Presents
Formats: Hardcover, eBook, audiobook
Pages: 400
Best-selling
author Rick Riordan presents the third book in the Hindu-based, best-selling
Pandava series by Roshani Chokshi, in which Aru and her cohorts, Mini, Brynne,
and Aiden—and now a pair of twins—each search the Otherworld for Kalpavriksha,
the wish-granting tree.
War between the devas and the demons is imminent, and the
Otherworld is on high alert. When intelligence from the human world reveals
that the Sleeper is holding a powerful clairvoyant and her sister captive,
14-year-old Aru and her friends launch a search-and-rescue mission. The
captives, a pair of twins, turn out to be the newest Pandava sisters, though,
according to a prophecy, one sister is not true.
During the celebration of Holi, the heavenly attendants stage a
massage PR rebranding campaign to convince everyone that the Pandavas are to be
trusted. As much as Aru relishes the attention, she fears that she is destined
to bring destruction to her sisters, as the Sleeper has predicted. Aru believes
that the only way to prove her reputation is to find the Kalpavriksha, the
wish-granting tree that came out of the Ocean of Milk when it was churned. If
she can reach it before the Sleeper, perhaps she can turn everything around
with one wish.
Careful what you wish for, Aru . . .

Review
This was a wonderful and fun read! This book is full of adventure, magic and plenty of humor! There are also lots of twists and turns, which I love! I really love getting to read about Hindu mythology.   I really enjoyed this book and I can’t wait to read book four!
About Roshani:

Roshani Chokshi is the author of the
instant New York Times best-selling books in the Pandava series, Aru Shah and
the End of Time, and its sequel, Aru Shah and the Song of Death. She also wrote
the New York Times best-selling YA books The Star-Touched Queen and The Gilded
Wolves. She studied fairy tales in college, and she has a pet luck dragon that
looks suspiciously like a Great Pyrenees dog. The Pandava novels were inspired
by the stories her grandmother told her as well as Roshani’s all-consuming love
for Sailor Moon. She lives in the south and says “y’all,” but she
doesn’t really have a Southern accent. Her Twitter handle is @roshani_chokshi.

My Review

This was an interesting and dark retelling of Goose Girl. The writing is beautiful. I like the fact that Alyrra isn’t a perfect character. She has insecurities and she grows throughout the book. I felt so many emotions while reading this book. I really enjoyed it and I think if you love retellings you need to pick this one up!

My Favorite Quotes

All Your Twisted Secrets

by Diana Urban
Publisher: HarperTeen
Release Date: March 17th 2020

Genre: Young Adult, Mystery, Thriller, Contemporary

Synopsis:

This thrilling debut, reminiscent of new fan favorites like One of Us Is Lying and the beloved classics by Agatha Christie, will leave readers guessing until the explosive ending.

Welcome to dinner, and again, congratulations on being selected. Now you must do the selecting.

What do the queen bee, star athlete, valedictorian, stoner, loner, and music geek all have in common? They were all invited to a scholarship dinner, only to discover it’s a trap. Someone has locked them into a room with a bomb, a syringe filled with poison, and a note saying they have an hour to pick someone to kill … or else everyone dies.

Amber Prescott is determined to get her classmates and herself out of the room alive, but that might be easier said than done. No one knows how they’re all connected or who would want them dead. As they retrace the events over the past year that might have triggered their captor’s ultimatum, it becomes clear that everyone is hiding something. And with the clock ticking down, confusion turns into fear, and fear morphs into panic as they race to answer the biggest question: Who will they choose to die?

My Review

This was a wonderful thriller. Plenty of suspense and twists. I really enjoyed the writing. I thought the characters were well written. I enjoyed getting to read from the past and to the present. With this story, I feel like it works really well. I really enjoy trying to solve a mystery and this one left me guessing and shocked at the end! I really enjoyed this thriller!

My Favorite Quotes

I knew what it meant to be the brunt of their jokes, victim to their cruelty.

” Maybe next year they’ll lock the winners in a graveyard and convince them zombies are after them.”

” Let’s just .. stay calm and try to find a way out of here. This isn’t exactly the Tower of London. There has to be a way out.”

Wicked As You Wish (A Hundred Names for Magic #1)

by Rin Chupeco
Publisher: Sourcebooks Fire
Release Date: March 3rd 2020

Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy

Synopsis:

An unforgettable alternative history fairytale series from the author of The Bone Witch trilogy about found family, modern day magic, and finding the place you belong.

Many years ago, the magical Kingdom of Avalon was left desolate and encased in ice when the evil Snow Queen waged war on the powerful country. Its former citizens are now refugees in a world mostly devoid of magic. Which is why the crown prince and his protectors are stuck in…Arizona.

Prince Alexei, the sole survivor of the Avalon royal family, is in hiding in a town so boring, magic doesn’t even work there. Few know his secret identity, but his friend Tala is one of them. Tala doesn’t mind—she has secrets of her own. Namely, that she’s a spellbreaker, someone who negates magic.

Then hope for their abandoned homeland reignites when a famous creature of legend, and Avalon’s most powerful weapon, the Firebird, appears for the first time in decades. Alex and Tala unite with a ragtag group of new friends to journey back to Avalon for a showdown that will change the world as they know it.

My Review

I thought Wicked, as You Wish, was unique and imaginative! I loved the world-building! The characters are well written and interesting. I thought the magic of this world was unique and interesting. I loved all the references to fairy tales! I really enjoyed this fantasy and I can’t wait to read more!

Favorite Quotes

But then his smile popped up like flowers after a long rain, and Tala had to muffle a squeak when he scooped her up in a hug.

What I mean is, you’ve got magic in your blood, love. You Can’t take it out of you any more than you can will yourself to stop breathing.

Our love was a wonderful madness, dear heart.
